The LSE Directory / Alternative data
Consumer Edge is a New York based alternative data provider that converts global consumer spending activity into structured datasets for investors and corporations. Its core product, the CE Vision platform, aggregates credit and debit card transaction records, SKU level receipt data (its Basketview product), web traffic and clickstream data (Click), web scraped e-commerce pricing, retail point of sale scanner data, and healthcare claims data, delivering them through dashboards, raw data feeds, and custom research for use in earnings modeling, market sizing, competitive benchmarking, and portfolio monitoring. The firm's origin as an equity research boutique shapes how it differs from pure data vendors: alongside the raw panels, Consumer Edge sells analyst style interpretation aimed at three distinct buyer groups, public market investors (hedge funds and equity research desks) validating investment theses, private equity and venture capital firms doing deal sourcing and diligence, and corporate brands benchmarking against competitors. Its transaction panels extend beyond the US into the UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and Austria, a wider multi country footprint than many domestically focused US card panel providers, and the company says its data handling follows GDPR and equivalent privacy regimes. Consumer Edge was founded in 2009 by Bill Pecoriello, who remains CEO, and reports coverage of roughly 180 million consumer accounts, 40,000 brands, 40,000 merchants, and around 1,800 publicly traded tickers, with data history spanning five continents. In January 2023 the company raised more than 60 million dollars in equity financing from alternative asset manager CoVenture to fund organic growth and acquisitions, and CoVenture managing director Dan Bailey joined its board; Consumer Edge stated its organic annual recurring revenue had grown at roughly a 30 percent compound annual rate over the prior three years. It operates offices in New York, the UK, and Germany. In April 2025 Consumer Edge completed its acquisition of Earnest Analytics, a New York based transaction and healthcare data firm founded in 2012 by Kevin Carson, folding Earnest's near real time transaction and medical claims datasets (marketed under the Hydrus name) into the CE Vision product suite. The deal extended the acquisition strategy funded by the 2023 CoVenture investment and was the company's most recent step in broadening its data assets beyond its original card transaction panels.
