The LSE Directory / Alternative data

Oxylabs is a Vilnius, Lithuania based web data infrastructure company that sells the tooling businesses use to collect public data from the web at scale. Its core product lines are proxy networks (residential, datacenter, mobile, ISP and SOCKS5 IP addresses, with more than 177 million proxies in its pool per the company's own count), an AI powered Web Unblocker for getting past anti-bot defenses, Scraper API and Headless Browser API products for structured extraction, and pre-built or custom web datasets delivered directly to customers. It does not compile or sell a curated financial market data feed itself; it supplies the underlying infrastructure that other firms use to build their own alternative data pipelines from scraped web content. Oxylabs markets directly to finance customers: its own alternative data solutions page states that hedge fund managers and investors use its tooling to turn non traditional sources, social media sentiment, online reviews, credit card transaction data, satellite imagery, rental and lease listings, into signals for identifying investment opportunities and reading market trends ahead of traditional financial statements. That sits alongside a larger customer base in e-commerce price intelligence, SEO and marketing analytics, and academic or investigative research. Against other large proxy vendors its differentiation is scale plus a move up the stack: on top of the raw proxy layer it has added AI tooling, OxyCopilot and a no-code AI Studio for building scrapers, and a web index intended to ground AI agents in current web content rather than a stale search index. Oxylabs was founded in 2015 out of the Tesonet startup accelerator in Vilnius, with Julius Cerniauskas as founding CEO; in 2026 he moved to Chairman of the Board as Vytautas Savickas became CEO. The company grew without outside capital until July 2026, when it took its first external investment, 130 million dollars from Warburg Pincus's Capital Solutions Founders Fund at a 3.6 billion dollar valuation, making it the second company out of the Tesonet accelerator to reach unicorn status. At the time of that round Oxylabs reported more than 350 million dollars in annualised recurring revenue and over 350,000 customers, holds ISO/IEC 27001:2022 information security certification, and has filed more than 160 patents. It expanded its product line through the acquisitions of proxy provider Webshare Software in 2022 and scraping API vendor ScrapingBee in 2025, and has done pro bono data access work with organisations including Bellingcat, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, and Lithuania's communications regulator. The Warburg Pincus investment, announced 9 July 2026, is earmarked for expanding Oxylabs's web index and headless browser products, growing its global proxy network, and funding further acquisitions. New CEO Vytautas Savickas framed the raise around AI agents needing real time web data rather than static search indexes, while CFO Jurgis Gabrielius Rudgalvis pointed to the company's revenue growth as proof of its execution as a data infrastructure platform leader.
