Panjiva is a supply chain and global trade intelligence platform owned by S&P Global Market Intelligence. It ingests customs and bill of lading filings from roughly 20 countries, primarily the United States, Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Turkey and Vietnam, and organises them into a searchable graph linking buyers, suppliers, products, carriers and trade lanes. The platform covers more than 2 billion shipment records and around 9 million companies, which the company estimates represents about 35% of global trade flows. Users search by company name, commodity, HS/HTS code, D-U-N-S number or location, and can save searches and set email alerts for new shipment activity or newly matched companies. Panjiva differs from generic customs-data resellers by combining shipment records with commercial business information (Dun & Bradstreet, ZoomInfo and Kompass among its sourced datasets) and, since its acquisition, with S&P Global's own corporate hierarchy data; more than 600,000 Panjiva-tracked companies have been linked to S&P Global Market Intelligence entity records. That linkage lets the platform serve several distinct buyer groups from one dataset: sales and business-development teams prospecting for buyers or suppliers, supply chain and procurement researchers assessing country or single-supplier risk, trade compliance analysts, and quantitative and fundamental investors who use shipment volumes tied to public companies as an alternative-data signal on revenue and supply chain exposure. Delivery spans the web application itself plus bulk and API access through S&P Global's Xpressfeed, the Snowflake Data Marketplace and direct data licensing, which is what makes it usable both as an analyst tool and as a machine-readable feed for quant research. The company was founded in 2006 by Josh Green and Jim Psota, graduate-school acquaintances who built it after Green struggled to find reliable supplier information while sourcing tablet displays; Green served as CEO and Psota as CTO. Panjiva grew from a buyer-supplier matchmaking site into a data business, was named among Inc. magazine's fastest-growing private US companies in 2013, and by 2015 served customers in 89 countries from offices in New York, Boston and Shanghai. S&P Global announced its acquisition of Panjiva on February 20, 2018 and completed the deal on February 26, 2018, on undisclosed terms; S&P Global Market Intelligence's president at the time described the appeal as Panjiva's use of machine intelligence to combine transaction records into a proprietary supply chain graph. Panjiva now operates as a product line within S&P Global Market Intelligence rather than as a standalone company.
