RepRisk AG is a Zurich, Switzerland based data science company that produces business conduct and ESG risk intelligence on companies, infrastructure projects, sectors and countries. Its core product is an online due diligence platform built on daily systematic screening of more than 100,000 public sources, including media, regulatory bodies, government agencies and stakeholder groups such as NGOs and think tanks, in more than 20 languages. Each risk incident is captured and curated by a team of research analysts rather than left to the underlying company's own disclosures, then rolled up into two headline metrics: the RepRisk Index, a 0 to 100 score, and the RepRisk Rating, an AAA to D letter grade, alongside a UN Global Compact Violator Flag and issue level tags across 108 predefined ESG and business conduct factors. RepRisk's stated differentiator against issuer disclosure based ESG raters (the model used by many large ratings houses) is that its data is sourced entirely from external, third party media and stakeholder documents rather than corporate self reporting, so a company cannot influence its own score by choosing what to publish. Data reaches customers through scheduled data feeds, a REST API with PDF report generation, and a Snowflake based Data Cloud for bulk analysis, plus a separate Geospatial product that maps extractive and power sector projects against environmentally sensitive sites using IBAT Alliance data. Customers are concentrated in banks, asset managers, insurers, private equity and hedge funds, alongside corporates doing supply chain and counterparty due diligence; the company also distributes through index providers, financial data platforms, credit rating agencies and fund administrators, including a stated partnership with S&P Dow Jones Indices on ESG index construction. The company traces back to Ecofact, a Zurich environmental and social risk consultancy founded in 1998; UBS commissioned what became the RepRisk database in 2006, and the risk data business was spun out as the independent company RepRisk in 2010. Philipp Aeby, who joined the Ecofact side of the business in 2006, has served as CEO since the 2010 spinout and is listed by the company as a co-founder alongside Nicole Streuli-Fürst, who now holds the President title. RepRisk remains privately held, headquartered in Zurich with additional offices in London, Berlin, New York, Toronto, Manila, Tokyo, Buenos Aires and Shanghai. As of this research pass the platform's own site reported coverage of more than 348,000 companies and close to 118,000 projects across 34 sectors, supported by a stated 150-plus research analyst team and 60-plus engineers, and stated relationships with over 100 banks and the majority of the largest global investment managers. In November 2021 RepRisk published its full ESG data methodology openly, a move it framed as a transparency step distinguishing it from ratings providers that keep scoring methodology proprietary; the company continues to expand its executive bench, with a Chief Technology Officer and Chief Product Officer added in 2024 and a Chief Revenue Officer joining in 2026.
