The LSE Directory / Alternative data

Yodlee is a financial data aggregation and analytics platform. It connects to bank, credit card, brokerage, loan and other consumer and small-business accounts across more than 19,000 global data sources, then cleanses, categorises and enriches that data via APIs so client institutions can build products on top of it. Its product lines cover personal financial management, credit and lending decisioning, wealth management account aggregation, business financial management, payment and account verification, and open finance data access, supporting both modern API based connections and legacy connection methods on one platform. Its customers are financial institutions and fintech developers rather than consumers directly: the company states its data reaches 14 of the top 20 US banks and 7 of the top 10 US wealth management firms, and it lists more than 91 percent of its connections as direct to the financial institution rather than through screen scraping. It also packages de-identified, aggregated consumer transaction data as an alternative data product for hedge funds, asset managers and equity researchers who use spending patterns to forecast company revenue, a use case distinct from its core bank-facing aggregation business. In October 2025 it launched Yodlee Credit, a subsidiary that completed registration as a Consumer Reporting Agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, so lenders can use cashflow based alternative data (income patterns, savings behaviour, bill payment history) in underwriting. Yodlee was founded in 1999 in Sunnyvale, California, by P. Venkat Rangan and later relocated to Redwood City. It listed on Nasdaq under the ticker YDLE in October 2014, raising roughly 75 million dollars in net proceeds. Envestnet acquired the company in a deal announced in August 2015 and completed that November, valued at approximately 660 million dollars on a fully diluted equity basis (about 590 million dollars in enterprise value after netting Yodlee's cash), and it operated for a decade as Envestnet | Yodlee. Envestnet sold the business to private equity firm STG, with the sale completing on September 2, 2025, at which point the company relaunched as an independent Yodlee under chief executive Farouk Ferchichi. Yodlee has held a data access agreement with JPMorganChase for roughly two decades; the two companies amended and renewed that agreement in November 2025 to cover new open finance and financial wellness initiatives. In June 2026, banking software provider Alkami announced it was integrating with Yodlee's aggregation service using the Financial Data Exchange (FDX) API standard, part of a broader industry shift away from credential based scraping toward standardised, permissioned data sharing.
