The LSE Directory / CFD and forex brokers

Capital.com is a multi-regulated online CFD broker offering commission-free trading on forex, shares, indices, commodities, cryptocurrencies, bonds and interest-rate instruments. Clients trade through the company's own web and mobile platforms or via MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and TradingView integrations, plus a free REST and WebSocket API for programmatic access. As of 2025 the platform listed more than 5,000 tradable markets, up from roughly 4,500 the year before. The company's stated differentiator is a proprietary AI layer rather than pricing or leverage alone. Its SmartFeed technology, patented in 2019, monitors a client's trading activity in real time to flag behavioural biases such as overtrading or loss aversion, and routes the trader toward targeted educational content, including through a companion app called Investmate. Capital.com frames this as a "decision support" approach aimed at retail and newer traders, distinct from brokers that compete mainly on spreads or sign-up bonuses. Like other CFD providers it carries the standard retail-loss disclosure; its own materials cite 78.48% of retail accounts losing money trading CFDs with the provider. The company was founded in 2016 by Viktor Prokopenya and is headquartered in Limassol, Cyprus, with additional offices in locations including London, Dubai, Warsaw, Sofia, Vilnius and Melbourne; it employs more than 1,100 people across 11 international offices. It operates through separately licensed entities: Capital Com (UK) Limited is authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 793714), Capital Com SV Investments Limited by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (license 319/17), an Australian entity by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (AFSL 513393), plus authorisation from the Securities Commission of The Bahamas and, since June 23, 2026, South Africa's Financial Sector Conduct Authority (entity Capital Com South Africa (Pty) Ltd, FSCA licence 55488). Early backing came jointly from Prokopenya's VP Capital and Larnabel Ventures, the Gutseriev family's investment vehicle; VP Capital became sole owner after buying out Larnabel's stake in 2021. Capital.com reported $3.42 trillion in client trading volume for 2025, a 92% increase on 2024's $1.78 trillion, across 224.8 million executed trades, with the Middle East accounting for roughly half of total volume and gold the most actively traded instrument; it had more than 3 million registered accounts as of 2024. By mid-2026 the group had moved away from a single global chief executive: after Kypros Zoumidou succeeded prior CEO Peter Hetherington in October 2023, Capital.com shifted to a regional leadership model, with separate CEOs now running the UK, Europe, MENA and Australia businesses alongside founder Viktor Prokopenya.
