Eightcap is a contracts-for-difference (CFD) and forex broker: clients trade leveraged derivatives referencing currency pairs, stock indices, commodities, individual shares and cryptocurrencies rather than owning the underlying asset. Depending on which licensing entity a client is onboarded to, the group advertises access to between roughly 600 and 800-plus tradable markets, forex spreads quoted from about 0.12 pips on major pairs, and a minimum deposit of $100. It offers two core account types, a spread-only Standard account and a commission-plus-tighter-spread Raw account, executed through MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradeLocker or TradingView. The company's clearest point of differentiation from other multi-asset CFD brokers is its relationship with TradingView. After joining TradingView's broker marketplace in 2022, Eightcap deepened the integration to the point of billing its UK entity as "the UK's only dedicated TradingView broker" and giving funded FCA clients a complimentary TradingView Plus subscription, list price around 33.95 pounds a month, on top of direct order execution from TradingView's charts. Rather than trading under one licence, Eightcap operates as a family of regionally licensed entities: Eightcap Pty Ltd under Australia's ASIC (AFSL 391441), Eightcap Group Ltd under the UK's FCA (FRN 921296), Eightcap EU Ltd under Cyprus's CySEC (licence 246/14), Eightcap Global Limited under the Securities Commission of the Bahamas (SIA-F220), and Eightcap International Ltd under the Seychelles FSA (SD100). That multi-entity structure, common among CFD brokers competing for both closely regulated retail flow and higher-leverage professional or offshore flow, lets Eightcap offer different leverage and client classifications by jurisdiction. Eightcap was founded in Melbourne in 2015 by Joel Murphy, previously head of sales at rival broker Pepperstone (some broker-review sites instead date the group to 2009, but the company's own about pages and independent reporting on Murphy's career agree on 2015). Murphy is credited with uncovering the 2014 insider-trading scheme run by Lukas Kamay and Christopher Hill, in which Kamay used market-sensitive Australian Bureau of Statistics data supplied by Hill to trade retail forex accounts for a gross profit of more than AU$8 million; both men were later jailed. In 2023, Eightcap was one of seven Australian CFD issuers, alongside CMC Markets, IG, Pepperstone, Saxo Markets, City Index and Capital.com, that self-reported breaches of ASIC's retail leverage limits and joined a remediation programme that returned a combined AU$4.3 million to more than 1,500 retail clients across the seven firms. Eightcap also appears on the Securities Commission Malaysia's investor alert list for carrying on capital-market dealing activity there without a Malaysian licence, a status it shares with many other international CFD brokers. The TradingView relationship has continued into 2026, with Eightcap picking up TradingView's own "Best Global CFD Forex Broker 2024" and "Most Reliable Tech 2026" recognitions, and the two companies co-hosting an invitation-only event at TradingView's London office around the 2024 Finance Magnates London Summit.
