The LSE Directory / CFD and forex brokers
XTB (X-Trade Brokers Dom Maklerski S.A.) is an online brokerage headquartered in Warsaw, Poland, founded in 2004 and rebranded from X-Trade Brokers to XTB in 2009. It provides two parallel product lines through one account: leveraged CFD trading on forex, indices, commodities, stocks, ETFs and cryptocurrencies, and separately, commission-eligible direct investing in real shares and ETFs listed on exchanges in the US, UK and Germany, plus automated Investment Plans for passive, recurring portfolio building. Both run on XTB's own xStation 5 platform (web, desktop and mobile), which bundles charting with a built-in economic calendar, a stock and ETF screener, and market sentiment tools rather than requiring a separate paid charting subscription. XTB's principal point of differentiation from other CFD brokers is that it pairs CFDs with genuine share and ETF ownership in the same app, offering 0% commission on real stocks and ETFs up to a monthly turnover threshold (EUR 100,000 for EU clients), a structure aimed at retail investors who want to combine short-term leveraged trading with buy-and-hold investing rather than using two separate brokers. As a company listed on its home exchange, XTB also publishes audited quarterly financial statements, a transparency layer most privately held CFD brokers do not provide. It holds licenses across multiple jurisdictions, including the Polish KNF, the UK FCA, Cyprus's CySEC, Dubai's DFSA and South Africa's FSCA, and operates through country-specific regulated entities. The company was founded by Jakub Zabłocki, a University of Lodz economics graduate and former mBank employee, and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in May 2016 at an implied valuation of roughly PLN 1.8 billion. By the end of 2025 it reported about 2.16 million total registered clients (1.19 million active), 1,315 employees, offices in 15 countries, annual revenue of PLN 2.146 billion (up 14.6% year on year) and net income of PLN 644.2 million. It has been a McLaren Formula One sponsor since 2010 and has used ambassadors including Jose Mourinho, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Conor McGregor. In March 2026 Poland's KNF fined XTB PLN 20 million (about USD 5.5 million) over MiFID II conduct-of-business failings in its CFD client-assessment and risk-disclosure process between January 2022 and September 2023, one of the largest penalties the regulator has issued to a domestic brokerage; XTB's share price rose to a new all-time high in the days following the announcement. XTB has been expanding beyond its core CFD business, adding UK ISA accounts, an eWallet for multi-currency cash management, and spot cryptocurrency trading through a 2025 Cyprus license, alongside licenses obtained for Indonesia and the UAE in 2024. In 2025 the firm disclosed a cyberattack that it said affected about 0.017% of client accounts, and it committed to reimbursing any resulting losses.
