The LSE Directory / Charting platforms

Barchart is a Chicago, Illinois based provider of market data, charting technology, and financial workflow software. Its consumer-facing site, barchart.com, offers free and paid memberships with quotes, charts, screeners, watchlists, options data, and news across equities, futures, options, forex, and cryptocurrencies, and the company states the site draws more than 4 million monthly active users and over 40 million monthly page views. On the business side, Barchart OnDemand delivers real-time, delayed, and historical market data through cloud-based APIs (JSON, XML, CSV, and WebSocket streaming) built on AWS infrastructure with Equinix colocation for low latency delivery, and the company licenses embeddable charting libraries to media outlets, brokerages, and fintech platforms. The company's particular specialty is commodity and agricultural market data, an area where it differs from general purpose market data vendors. Its cmdtyView platform, extended into Latin America with a cmdtyView LATAM edition in 2025, serves grain elevators, agribusiness, and commodity trading desks with cash bids, futures, options, and fundamentals data, while Grains.com and the Marketplace Apps line connect farmers and grain buyers directly. Barchart also supplies charts and data to third-party financial media sites and, more recently, has moved into prediction market data and direct exchange connectivity, areas outside the usual scope of retail-facing charting competitors. Barchart traces its origins to Logical Systems Inc., which launched the Barchart.com data service in 1995; the operating entity Barchart.com, Inc. was formally incorporated in Chicago in 2000. Co-founder Andrew Lowdon served as CEO from 2001 to 2016 and now holds the Chief Operating Officer and Chairman roles; Mark Haraburda became CEO in 2016, and Eero Pikat serves as President. Growth came partly through acquisition: the data and charting business of CRB/Bridge (which included the Commodity Research Bureau, founded 1934) in 2001, the United States Chart Company in 2006, and Stockgroup Media's financial tools business in 2011. Barchart remains privately held and describes itself as a registered market data provider with more than two decades of experience delivering exchange data feeds, with connectivity spanning exchanges including CME, ICE, Euronext, CBOE, Nasdaq, NYSE, and the London Stock Exchange. Recent announcements point to continued expansion into adjacent data segments and direct exchange links: in October 2025 Barchart announced a direct connection to the London Metal Exchange, in November 2025 it announced a data partnership with prediction-market operator Kalshi, and in January 2026 it launched a Digital Information Board product for browser-based, customizable live market data displays.
