LSEG Workspace is an enterprise financial markets terminal owned and operated by London Stock Exchange Group, delivering real-time and historical pricing, fundamentals, ESG data, charting, screening and news across global asset classes. It is accessed via desktop or browser with functional parity between the two, integrates with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and includes CodeBook, a built-in Python scripting environment for Jupyter-style programmatic access to LSEG data and APIs. The platform is the direct successor to Refinitiv Eikon, which Thomson Reuters originally launched on 14 September 2010 as a replacement for the older Reuters 3000 Xtra terminal; Eikon was formally withdrawn from LSEG's product line on 30 June 2025, with LSEG actively migrating remaining users to Workspace. The product is aimed at sell side and buy side financial professionals: wealth advisors, investment bankers, sales and trading desks, analysts and portfolio managers, and academic institutions. Its principal differentiator versus other multi-asset terminals in its category is exclusive access to Reuters News (a wire service with roughly 170 years of history) alongside proprietary analytics such as StarMine and MarketPsych. LSEG has also announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft to build deeper Workspace integration with Teams and Microsoft 365, including compliance features, and has added an AI research agent (branded Deep Research) intended to convert Workspace data into synthesized analysis rather than raw feeds alone. The Eikon brand traces to a roughly one billion dollar development investment Thomson Reuters began around 2008. In October 2018, Thomson Reuters sold a 55 percent majority stake in its Financial & Risk unit, which included Eikon, to private equity firm Blackstone in a deal valuing that unit at about twenty billion dollars; the carved out business was renamed Refinitiv. London Stock Exchange Group agreed in August 2019 to acquire Refinitiv for twenty seven billion dollars in an all-share transaction, which closed on 29 January 2021, with consideration paid in LSEG shares held through an entity jointly owned by Thomson Reuters and Blackstone's consortium. In August 2023, LSEG began retiring the Refinitiv brand across its business, renaming Refinitiv Workspace to LSEG Workspace at that time. LSEG's Data & Analytics division, which now houses Workspace, reports more than 40,000 customers and roughly 400,000 end users across approximately 190 markets. As of LSEG's most recent quarterly trading updates, Data & Analytics remains the group's largest revenue contributor and continues to post positive subscription growth, with the company promoting a broader "LSEG Everywhere" push to make its data more accessible to AI-driven workflows, an initiative Workspace's Deep Research and CodeBook tooling both feed into.
