StockCharts.com is a web-based technical-analysis and charting platform for retail and active investors, based in Redmond, Washington. Its core product is SharpCharts, a browser-based chart builder supporting layered technical overlays and indicators, alongside Point & Figure charts, PerfCharts, GalleryView, CandleGlance, Seasonality Charts, and Relative Rotation Graphs (RRG). The platform also offers a proprietary StockCharts Technical Rank (SCTR) relative-strength scoring system, MarketCarpets and Dynamic Yield Curve visualizations, custom technical scans, and price and indicator alerts. Coverage spans more than 50,000 symbols across US, Canadian, UK, and Indian equities, mutual funds, indices, commodities, and major cryptocurrencies; market data is sourced from Xignite, commodity and historical index data from Pinnacle Data Corporation, and cryptocurrency pricing, typically delayed about 15 minutes, from CryptoCompare. The platform targets chart-driven technical analysis rather than order execution or minute-by-minute day trading. Charts render as generated images refreshed on a schedule rather than a continuously streaming canvas, and there is no dedicated mobile app, so independent reviewers place it ahead of execution-first tools for swing traders, position traders, and students of technical analysis, and behind interactive, real-time platforms such as TradingView for active intraday trading. A free tier caps charts at 3 indicators or overlays and 900-pixel width; paid StockCharts Membership, sold in Basic, Extra, and PRO tiers priced from about $14.95 to $39.95 a month, raises those limits to 25 indicators or overlays and 2500-pixel-wide charts and adds full scanning, alerting, and members-only market commentary. The ChartSchool library and daily contributions from technical analysts including John Murphy, Martin Pring, and David Keller give the site an education-and-commentary layer that competitors weighted toward execution speed generally do not build out to the same degree. StockCharts.com was founded in 1999 by Chip Anderson, a former Microsoft developer who worked on the Windows 1, 2, and 3 codebases between 1987 and 1997 before starting the company; Anderson remains its president and chief technical architect. The company reports more than 1.9 million active monthly users globally as of 2026, up from about 1.5 million cited in a 2023 company announcement. In 2024 StockCharts integrated OptionsPlay's options-strategy tools into user ChartLists, and it has continued building out a browser-based Advanced Charting Platform (ACP) that added custom and predefined technical scans directly inside the charting interface. In the first half of 2026, StockCharts.com added intraday data for metals, energy, and agricultural commodity contracts (March 2026) and shipped fourteen new or improved technical indicators to SharpCharts, including a Performance Spread tool, DEMA and TEMA moving averages, and an enhanced Volume By Price display (June 2026), continuing the incremental release cadence logged on its public "What's New" changelog.
