HashKey Exchange is a cryptocurrency trading platform operated by HashKey Group and licensed by Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission under a Type 1 (dealing in securities) licence and a Type 7 (providing automated trading services) licence, alongside a virtual asset trading platform operator licence under the Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance. It offers spot trading in major cryptocurrencies against HKD and USD, OTC trading, currency conversion, yield-generating Earn products, and account services for both individual and institutional (PI and corporate) clients, accessed through a mobile app, web platform and API. Client assets are held in segregated accounts, and the exchange holds ISO 27001 information security and ISO 27701 data privacy certifications. Its point of difference from many offshore crypto exchanges serving Asian traders is that it operates fully inside Hong Kong's licensing regime rather than at arm's length from it, which lets it offer HKD and USD fiat rails, a co-branded credit card with Shacom Bank paying crypto rewards on spending, and institutional liquidity arranged with market maker B2C2 under a partnership announced in March 2025. Its native token, HSK, gives holders a discount on spot trading fees and is positioned for governance and staking use within the HashKey ecosystem. HashKey Group was founded in Hong Kong in 2018 by Dr Xiao Feng, its chairman and chief executive, who had previously co-founded and served as vice chairman of Bosera Asset Management, one of China's largest fund managers, and held the vice chairman role at Wanxiang Holding before moving into digital assets. HashKey Exchange received its initial SFC approval in November 2022 and became the first SFC-licensed platform to open retail crypto trading in Hong Kong, in August 2023. As of a January 2025 CoinGecko ranking it stood seventh globally by exchange trading volume and was the highest ranked licensed exchange in Hong Kong; for full year 2025 it reported HK$1.3 trillion in spot trading volume, which it states was the largest among regional onshore digital asset platforms in Asia. On 17 December 2025, parent company HashKey Holdings Limited listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange under stock code 3887.HK at HK$6.68 per share, becoming the first digital asset company in Asia to complete a public listing there. Cornerstone investors in the offering included UBS Asset Management Singapore, Fidelity and CDH.
