Pionex is a Singapore based centralized cryptocurrency exchange, launched in 2019, built around free algorithmic trading bots rather than a conventional order book interface alone. By 2026 its bot suite had grown to more than 16 tools, including a Grid Trading Bot (automated buy low, sell high inside a set price range), Infinity Grid and Leveraged Grid variants, a DCA (dollar cost averaging) Bot, a Rebalancing Bot, a Futures Grid Bot supporting leverage up to 100x on perpetual contracts, a Reverse Grid Bot, TWAP and Spot Futures Arbitrage tools, and a copy trading feature added in late 2025 that lets users mirror strategies from traders with public track records. Rather than running its own deep independent order book, Pionex aggregates liquidity from Binance and Huobi (HTX) and has described itself as one of the largest Binance brokers by volume; it lists over 430 cryptocurrencies across 500 plus trading pairs at a flat 0.05% maker and taker fee. Pionex's specialization is packaging strategies that would otherwise require third party bot software into the exchange itself, at no extra cost, aimed at retail traders who want rules based, automated execution without writing code or paying a subscription. This differs from bot agnostic exchanges such as Binance or Coinbase, where automation is a paid add on or a separate service, and from standalone bot platforms that require a user to hold a separate exchange account and API key. The company runs a distinct entity, Pionex US, to serve American retail users under US money transmission licensing rather than folding them into the global platform. Pionex was founded in 2019 by Daniel Seng Cheng Yeo, who serves as global CEO, and Guojing Tang, who holds a PhD in applied mathematics and previously worked as a vice president in commodities sales and trading at Morgan Stanley and as CEO of Huatai GW Capital Management in China. The exchange is backed by BitUniverse, a crypto trading tool developer whose founding team came from Cheetah Mobile (NYSE: CMCM). In April 2020 Pionex was registered as a Money Services Business with the US Treasury's FinCEN (registration number 31000188348895), which it describes as the first such registration for a bot focused crypto exchange; Pionex US separately holds money transmitter licenses or license equivalent legal approvals across dozens of individual US states under NMLS ID 2284360, including formal licenses in Connecticut, Delaware, Nevada, North Carolina and Washington. In Singapore, Pionex has applied for a Monetary Authority of Singapore license, but as of early 2026 that application remained under review rather than granted; Pionex's own support team has publicly corrected third party reports that described the company as already holding a full MAS license, so it should not be characterized as MAS licensed. The exchange reports more than 5 million users worldwide and a claimed monthly trading volume above $60 billion, though both figures are company reported rather than independently audited. Through 2026 Pionex kept expanding its futures bot lineup with new leveraged listings and added KYC and trading goal linked sign-up incentives for new users, while its 2025 addition of copy trading pushed the platform beyond pure algorithmic bots into social and copy trading territory more commonly associated with exchanges like Bybit or eToro.
