The LSE Directory / Data providers
Cboe DataShop, LiveVol and Cboe Market Data Services together form the data-services business of Cboe Global Markets, the Chicago-based exchange operator. DataShop is an e-commerce catalogue at datashop.cboe.com for downloadable historical and intraday datasets, trade-by-trade options execution detail, quote intervals, end-of-day OHLC and volume summaries, and calculated implied volatility and Greeks, covering the asset classes Cboe itself lists on its own exchanges: options, futures, equities, ETFs, indices and foreign exchange. LiveVol contributes the analytics side, the LiveVol Pro and LiveVol Core web platforms for scrolling time and sales, volatility charting, earnings-event analysis, scanning and options-strategy backtesting. Market Data Services is the broader umbrella covering direct exchange feeds such as the Cboe One U.S. equities feed, the Cboe Global Indices Feed and Cboe Global Cloud. The unit's defining trait is vertical sourcing: because Cboe operates the underlying options, equities and futures (CFE) exchanges, its data is captured at the source rather than aggregated or licensed from a third-party consolidator, which it positions as an advantage for firms needing execution-grade granularity such as full trade-by-trade options detail rather than a summarized consolidated tape. Distribution runs on two tracks, direct connections for firms that want to pull data straight from Cboe, and redistribution through more than 100 third-party vendors including Bloomberg, FactSet and CQG for firms that do not want to build a direct link. Its customer base spans quantitative researchers, options and equity trading firms, institutional investors, brokers and data redistributors, with an academic discount program also offered for research use. Cboe itself traces to 1973, when the Chicago Board of Trade founded the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the first exchange to list standardized, listed stock options; it incorporated as CBOE Holdings in 2010 and was renamed Cboe Global Markets in 2017. The LiveVol platforms did not originate inside Cboe: LiveVol was built independently by a group of options traders as a web-based real-time analytics tool for the trading floor, and Cboe Holdings agreed to acquire LiveVol's data and analytics platforms (Livevol Core, Livevol Pro, Livevol X and Livevol Enterprise) on June 2, 2015, completing the deal on August 7, 2015; the LiveVol broker-dealer subsidiary, Livevol Securities, was excluded from the sale and terms were not disclosed. As of Cboe Global Markets' most recent reporting, the parent company holds roughly 30 percent of U.S. options trading (the largest U.S. options exchange operator), about 10 percent of U.S. equities trading (third largest, behind NYSE and Nasdaq), and is the largest equities exchange operator in Europe by market share. LiveVol Pro and Core pricing and market data fees were last updated effective February 13, 2025, with LiveVol Pro listed at 380 US dollars per month with volume-based discounts. Beyond DataShop and LiveVol, Cboe's wider Market Data Services division advertises streaming access to more than 1,600 indices through its Global Indices Feed, average daily options volume figures in the low double-digit millions of contracts across its options exchanges, and foreign exchange spot data drawn from its FX venue.
