DefiLlama | Data provider Profile

Open-source aggregator of DeFi TVL, fees, revenue and yields across 500+ chains, funded without VC money or a token.

The LSE Directory / Data providers

DefiLlama is an open-source data and analytics platform for decentralized finance. Its core product is a set of free public dashboards and a REST API that aggregate on-chain activity into standardized metrics: Total Value Locked (TVL), protocol fees and revenue, DEX and perpetuals trading volume, stablecoin supply, token prices, lending and yield/APY rates, bridge flows, token unlocks and oracle-secured value. As of 2026 the site covers more than 500 blockchains and over 7,000 protocols, computed through open-source adapters that anyone can inspect or submit via the public DefiLlama-Adapters repository on GitHub. Its focus is protocol-level, cross-chain financial data rather than wallet-level intelligence or ad hoc query building, which separates it from adjacent analytics tools: Dune Analytics centers on user-written SQL queries against indexed chain data, and Nansen focuses on wallet labelling and address-level fund-flow tracking. DefiLlama instead applies one standardized TVL, fees and revenue methodology across every chain and protocol it tracks, and publishes that methodology openly. Access is tiered: the dashboards and a no-authentication API are free; a Pro subscription (49 USD a month or 490 USD a year) adds custom dashboards and an AI query assistant but excludes API access; a separate developer API tier (300 USD a month or 3,000 USD a year) adds a 1,000 requests-per-minute, 1 million calls-per-month allowance across TVL, fees, prices and token-unlock endpoints; and an Enterprise tier offers direct raw database access and hourly-refreshed proprietary data for institutional users. DefiLlama began as a single TVL tracker built to challenge DeFi Pulse, then the reference source for Ethereum DeFi capital, and had overtaken it in protocol coverage within its first year of operation. It was created by a pseudonymous developer known as 0xngmi, who has never been publicly identified and has given interviews using voice modulation; the project now operates under an umbrella collective, Llama Corp, whose listed co-founders are 0xngmi and Charlie Watkins. Llama Corp's other products include the RPC directory ChainList, the RPC infrastructure service LlamaNodes, the recurring-payments tool LlamaPay and the news outlet DL News. In January 2023 DefiLlama added LlamaSwap, a fee-free meta-DEX aggregator that compares swap quotes across routers including 1inch, CowSwap and ParaSwap. The team states it has taken no venture capital investment and has no native token, funding operations through Pro and API subscriptions plus donations and grants. In 2026 DefiLlama extended beyond DeFi into adjacent data sets: it launched equities tracking covering more than 3,000 tickers, including price, market cap, volume and earnings sourced from Twelve Data and SEC EDGAR filings, in June, and on July 1 published a dashboard comparing MiCA-licensed exchanges across the EU by market type, KYC requirements, onboarding bonuses, liquidity depth and fees, timed to the close of MiCA's transitional period when unlicensed venues such as Binance had to suspend EU services.
