The LSE Directory / Data providers

Glassnode is a blockchain analytics and market intelligence provider based in Zug, Switzerland, founded in 2018 by Jan Happel, Yann Allemann and Rafael Schultze-Kraft as a spinout from Swissblock, a digital-asset and global-macro research firm. Its core product, Glassnode Studio, combines on-chain blockchain data with off-chain spot, futures, options and CME market data into a single analytics platform, covering more than 1,700 metrics across roughly 1,500 digital assets with up to 15 years of historical data. Data is delivered through a web dashboard, an API with 1,700+ endpoints, Parquet/CSV exports, Snowflake and BigQuery integrations, an Excel add-in, and more recently an MCP server and CLI for AI-model connectivity. Glassnode's methodology centers on entity clustering: it groups wallet addresses believed to belong to the same holder, such as an exchange, miner, fund or individual, and segments them by behavior, holding age and wallet size, producing metrics such as HODL waves, exchange netflows and realized profit/loss that go beyond raw on-chain transaction counts. Data updates as frequently as every 10 minutes with point-in-time accuracy intended to avoid look-ahead bias, a feature aimed at quantitative and systematic trading desks. Alongside its data products it publishes Glassnode Research and offers Bitcoin Vector, a systematic daily risk-on/risk-off allocation signal built on its on-chain data. Its customers are primarily institutional: exchanges, hedge funds, asset managers and researchers, rather than retail chart users, which distinguishes it from consumer-facing crypto charting tools. The company has not disclosed any venture funding round of its own and describes itself as bootstrapped. By May 2023 it reported more than 800,000 signed-up users and over 500 institutional clients using its metrics suite, and its own site names Coinbase Institutional, Binance, CME, Grayscale and Ark Invest among its clients. In October 2022 it acquired the crypto tax and portfolio-tracking platform Accointing.com, integrating it under a unified login, before selling that tax business to Blockpit in 2023 to refocus on institutional data and analytics. It won "Digital Asset Research Provider of the Year" at the 2025 Hedgeweek Global Digital Assets Awards and "Best Data and Analytics Implementation" at the 2025 Digital Assets Awards. In June 2026, Cense, a compliance-focused venture that Glassnode spun out in 2023 to translate on-chain wallet and transaction data into standardized due-diligence evidence for banks, raised a 6.5 million euro seed round co-led by G+D Ventures and Rabo Investments, extending Glassnode's on-chain methodology into regulated banking compliance workflows.
