The LSE Directory / Data providers

HistData.com is a free historical market data provider aimed at retail forex traders and algorithmic strategy developers. It distributes tick level and 1 minute (M1) bar data for roughly 54 currency pairs (majors, minors and exotics such as USD/TRY, USD/ZAR and EUR/HUF), plus gold and silver crosses (XAU/USD, XAU/EUR, XAU/GBP, XAU/AUD, XAU/CHF, XAG/USD), WTI and Brent crude oil, and ten cash index CFDs covering the S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, Nikkei 225, CAC 40, FTSE 100, DAX, ASX 200, Hang Seng and EuroStoxx, all delivered as downloadable ZIP archives organised by instrument, year and month. Files are offered in generic ASCII/CSV plus formats pre built for MetaTrader 4/5, NinjaTrader and MetaStock; OHLC bars are derived from tick bid prices, with ask prices included only in the tick level files so a user can reconstruct spreads. The service targets self directed traders and expert advisor (EA) developers who want a fast, no signup way to backtest a strategy, rather than institutional desks. The base tick and M1 archives are free with no account required, timestamps are stamped in Eastern Standard Time without daylight saving adjustment, and every file ships with a status report listing the maximum gap and the average tick interval in milliseconds so a user can judge quality before relying on it. HistData.com states plainly that the free data carries no warranty or certification. Paid tiers exist to remove friction rather than to add guarantees: one time FTP/SFTP access for 27 USD, automated monthly Google Drive updates priced per file format at 7 USD a month, and a bespoke data transformation service that loads the history into MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle or H2, or stands up a REST query service, priced on a custom quotation. HistData.com describes itself as run by "a group of traders and strategy developers" rather than a named founder or corporate leadership team, and its own site gives no public incorporation date or executive names. Tick history for major pairs such as EUR/USD is downloadable continuously from the year 2000 through the present, and the archive was still being refreshed as of late June 2026, giving it roughly a quarter century of continuous coverage. The dataset has become a de facto standard input for open source retail trading tools: the GitHub project FX-1-Minute-Data, a Python wrapper built specifically to script downloads from HistData.com, has drawn over 650 stars, and further independent tools (histdata.com-tools, the histdatacom PyPI package) exist for the same purpose, reflecting the platform's reach in the hobbyist and small fund algorithmic trading community despite carrying no institutional data license or third party certification.
