Massive, known as Polygon.io until its rebrand took effect on October 30, 2025, is a financial market data vendor that delivers real-time and historical pricing data to developers through REST APIs, WebSocket streaming, a SQL query interface, and S3-compatible flat file downloads. Coverage spans US stocks, options, indices, forex, crypto, and futures, with data types including tick-level trades and quotes, aggregate OHLC bars, snapshots, ticker reference data, and corporate actions; stock and options quote data is collected from major US exchanges and dark pools with nanosecond-precision timestamps, and daily flat file datasets are finalized for download by around 11:00 AM ET the following day. The company positions itself as a developer-first alternative to incumbent market data vendors, competing primarily on API design, self-serve onboarding, and pricing rather than white-glove enterprise sales. Its customer base spans individual developers and quant hobbyists on free and low-cost tiers up through fintechs and larger institutions on paid plans; a 2020 funding announcement named Google, Revolut, Robinhood, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission among the organizations that had used its stock data API. Existing Polygon.io API keys, endpoints, and integrations continued to function unchanged after the rebrand, with the legacy api.polygon.io domain kept running alongside the new api.massive.com. The company was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 2016 by Quinton Pike, a former Google engineer, and is led by Pike as founder and CEO. It raised a 6 million dollar Series A round on October 14, 2020, led by e.ventures with participation from existing investor Green Visor Capital; e.ventures co-founder Thomas Gieselmann joined the board as part of that round. At the time of the raise the company said it had grown roughly 3x in both revenue and users. The Massive rebrand was announced on November 3, 2025, described by the company as reflecting the scale of infrastructure and developer community it had already built rather than a change in mission. As Massive, the company continues to operate as a single platform serving developers, fintech startups, and financial institutions building trading applications, backtests, and analytics tools, with parallel branding and infrastructure running under both the Polygon.io and Massive names during the transition period.
