Norgate Data is an Australian financial data vendor that sells historical daily, end-of-day price data by subscription, aimed primarily at independent systematic and quantitative traders doing backtesting rather than live trading. Its core product is a "survivorship-bias-free" historical database covering equities on the US, Australian (ASX) and Canadian (TSX, TSX-V, CSE, Neo) markets, around 100 futures contracts across roughly 11 exchanges including CME Group, Eurex and ICE Futures, plus spot commodity and forex data. Data is delivered through a proprietary local database maintained by its own Norgate Data Updater application rather than a live API; the company explicitly states it does not provide live, delayed or intraday tick data, only historical daily bars refreshed after each market close. Norgate's specialization is filling the two gaps that plain historical price downloads usually miss: delisted securities and accurate past index membership. Its US package alone lists 25,222 delisted securities from the start of 1950 to September 2022, and roughly 15,000 US over-the-counter securities are tracked at any given time. Rather than publishing raw historical constituent lists, which become unreliable as tickers and company names change, it exposes index membership as a query function through its platform plugins, returning a true or false answer for whether a given stock (listed or delisted) belonged to an index on a given date. It targets desktop retail and independent quant users rather than institutional trading desks: data is consumed as a native plugin inside charting and backtesting platforms such as AmiBroker, Wealth-Lab and RightEdge, or programmatically through Python and Zipline packages, rather than through a general-purpose REST or streaming API. Subscriptions run in fixed six or 12 month terms with no automatic renewal and no stored payment details, following a 3-week free trial. The company was founded in Australia in 1992. Its client base spans individual retail and systematic traders, university researchers and, according to Wikipedia, government and corporate entities including the Brazilian government and Deutsche Börse; its datasets have also been cited in academic research from institutions including Bond University, Cass Business School and the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. Richard Dale is publicly listed, on LinkedIn and ZoomInfo, as Chief Information Officer, director and co-owner of the company.
