The LSE Directory / Data providers

Similarweb is a publicly traded digital intelligence company (NYSE: SMWB) that estimates traffic, engagement and shopping behaviour across websites, mobile apps and digital retail. Its core estimates cover more than 100 million websites and roughly 4 to 4.7 million apps across around 190 countries and 210 industries, built by blending first-party analytics partnerships, an opted-in device panel and publicly available web data, rather than requiring the measured sites and apps to install a tracking tag. The company sells this data through several product lines: Web Intelligence and App Intelligence for competitive and market research, Retail Intelligence for ecommerce and SKU-level demand signals, Sales Intelligence for prospecting, and, distinct from marketing-analytics peers such as Semrush, a Stock Intelligence product and a broader Data-as-a-Service offering aimed at capital markets. Through these financial products Similarweb packages its digital signals, such as week-over-week traffic or app-download shifts, as an alternative-data proxy for company performance that can be tracked ahead of scheduled earnings releases, delivered via a platform, APIs and data feeds rather than only a marketing dashboard. Similarweb was founded in 2007 in Tel Aviv by Or Offer, who built an early version of the tool to study competitors while running an online business, and who remains CEO today. The company later established a global headquarters in New York while keeping a large Israel office and other locations across six continents, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in May 2021 at an IPO valuation of about 1.6 billion dollars after roughly 240 million dollars in venture funding. For fiscal 2024 it reported revenue of 250.0 million dollars and employed over 1,000 people; first-quarter 2026 revenue was 73.9 million dollars, up 10 percent year on year, with 6,038 customers and full-year 2026 revenue guidance raised to a range of 307 to 315 million dollars. In October 2024, Hedgeweek named Similarweb its Alternative Data Provider of the Year at the Hedgeweek US Awards, an award the company had also won in 2021 and, from Hedgeweek Europe, in 2022. The company has expanded its data business by acquisition, buying ad-intelligence platform Admetricks and app-data provider 42matters in 2024 and paid-search and affiliate-tracking firm The Search Monitor in 2025, while its own Stock Intelligence materials report usage by 5 of the world's 10 largest hedge funds and asset managers, all of the top 10 investment banks, and 9 of the top 10 private equity firms. In mid-2026 the company began a formal CEO succession search after Or Offer told the board of his plan to step down by mid-2027, close to his 20th year leading the company, as Similarweb positions itself around AI-driven data products.
