SIX Financial Information is the market and reference data division of SIX Group, the operator of the Swiss stock exchange, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland with offices in roughly 23 countries. It sources, cleans, and distributes securities reference data, real time and historical pricing, corporate actions, tax and regulatory data, ESG data, and index calculation, delivering it through APIs (Web API, Bulk API, Market Data Feed), file based feeds (SIX Flex, Valordata Feed), the SIX iD desktop display product, and cloud integrations such as a Snowflake data share. The firm's specialty is reference, regulatory, and standards data rather than a multi asset trading terminal; its customers are banks, asset and wealth managers, software integrators, and data scientists who consume the data as inputs into portfolio, risk, compliance, and reporting systems, not retail end investors. Its differentiator against broad terminal providers is that it doubles as an official standards body layered on top of a commercial data business: it is the National Numbering Agency for Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Belgium (issuing Valoren and ISIN identifiers under ISO 6166 as a member of ANNA), the sole official Maintenance Agency for ISO 4217 currency codes, and an issuer of Digital Token Identifiers (DTI, ISO 24165) for crypto assets since early 2023. The business traces to Ticker AG, founded in Zurich on 5 July 1930 by a consortium of Swiss banks to relay Zurich stock exchange prices by ticker; it launched Switzerland's first stock market television service and was renamed Telekurs Financial in 1961, introduced the Investdata display system in 1975, and began international expansion in 1990. In 2008 Telekurs merged with SWX Group, SIS Swiss Financial Services Group, and SEGA Intersettle to form SIX Group, with the unit renamed SIX Telekurs; the Telekurs name was retired in April 2012 in favor of SIX Financial Information. The company calculates benchmark indices including the Swiss Market Index (SMI) and Spain's IBEX 35, and its Valordata Feed reference product alone covers roughly 20 million financial instruments, with SIX describing its overall data coverage as more than 30 million instruments sourced from over 1,500 trading venues and contributors worldwide. SIX Group reported financial information division revenue of CHF 418.5 million for 2024, with roughly 1,166 employees in the unit. SIX Financial Information was named "Best Data Provider" at the FTF News Technology Innovation Awards for four consecutive years, 2022 through 2025.
