Token Terminal operates an onchain data platform that ingests raw blockchain and smart-contract activity and decodes it into standardized financial metrics, revenue, protocol fees, total value locked, active users, and trading volume, presented in a format modeled on traditional financial statements for blockchains and decentralized applications. Its product line includes Explorer, a searchable database of protocol-level metrics; Studio, for building custom dashboards and charts; a REST API and a Google Sheets add-in for pulling data into spreadsheets and models; and, more recently, a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that lets AI agents and coding assistants query the same datasets directly. The company positions itself against generic block explorers and token-price trackers by focusing specifically on protocol-level fundamentals rather than price action. Its stated approach is to source data directly from the ledger rather than from self-reported project figures, and to normalize inconsistent onchain accounting, for example differing definitions of "revenue" or "fees" across protocols, into comparable, income-statement-style line items. Its customer base is primarily institutional investors, funds, and research analysts who want to apply equity-style fundamental analysis to crypto assets, as well as the blockchain protocols and DAOs themselves, which use the platform to publish standardized, investor-facing reporting. Token Terminal was founded in 2020 by Aleksis Tapper, Robert Valta and Henri Hyvarinen and is based in Helsinki, Finland. It raised a Series A round in 2022 from investors reported to include Lifeline Ventures, Underscore VC, Cadenza Ventures and LeadBlock Partners. By its own published figures the platform covers more than 100 blockchains, over 1,200 applications and more than 3,000 tokenized assets. In May 2023 it launched Crypto Fundamentals on the Bloomberg Terminal App Portal, which it describes as the first digital-assets application of its kind available to Bloomberg's institutional user base, and it maintains a data partnership with MarketVector Indexes to help maintain fundamentals-weighted cryptoasset indexes. More recently the company has expanded its distribution through data partnerships with major blockchains and market-data platforms: a Sui Network integration for onchain reporting, a Cardano partnership announced June 1, 2026 covering dedicated dashboards and API access, and a CoinMarketCap and CMC AI data-supply partnership announced July 6, 2026 to extend standardized onchain datasets into CoinMarketCap's own analytics and AI research tools.
