David Vélez is a Colombian-born entrepreneur who co-founded Nubank in 2013 with Edward Wible and Cristina Junqueira. Nubank is the world's largest neobank outside Asia by customer count, serving over 90 million people across Brazil, Mexico and Colombia. It listed on the NYSE in December 2021. Vélez was inspired to disrupt Brazil's concentrated, fee-heavy banking sector after his own frustrating experience opening an account.
