Jared Broad is a New Zealand-born entrepreneur who founded QuantConnect in 2012 and serves as its CEO. He graduated from the University of Auckland with a degree in biomedical engineering in 2007, after which he spent several years doing humanitarian and disaster-relief work in locations including Myanmar, Haiti, Chile, and the Turkey-Syria border before moving into quantitative finance. QuantConnect, based in the United States, provides an open-source, cloud-based platform for designing, backtesting, and deploying algorithmic trading strategies, and has grown to serve several hundred thousand users including institutional funds. Broad has been recognized for pioneering an open-source approach in an industry traditionally defined by secrecy, and was named to the University of Auckland's alumni "40 Under 40" list.
