Joshua Blackburn is an American technologist who founded IEX Cloud in 2018 as a subsidiary product of IEX Group, Inc., the securities exchange operator co-founded by Brad Katsuyama and popularized by Michael Lewis's book Flash Boys. He served as IEX Cloud's Chief Technology Officer, having previously led client-facing technology for the IEX Exchange for six years after joining IEX Group in 2012. Under his leadership IEX Cloud grew into a widely used developer platform for financial market data, reaching close to 10,000 users across more than 100 countries shortly after its beta launch. He left IEX in late 2023 after eleven years with the company; IEX Cloud itself was discontinued by IEX Group in August 2024, with its assets acquired by former executives.
