Karen Barker Gentile is the founder, president and CEO of DAS Inc (Direct Access Software), the developer of the DAS Trader Pro platform widely used by active day traders and broker-dealers for low-latency direct market access. She began her career as a network engineer for the City of Yonkers, New York, before co-founding the online broker-dealer SpeedTrader (Stock USA Execution Services) in 1999, and went on to found DAS Inc in 2007 (some company materials date the platform's origin to 2003) alongside co-founder and software engineer Jun Liu. Gentile holds a BA with certification in Information Systems, Political Science, History, Computer Science and Environmental Science from Pace University (1994-1998). She has rung the NASDAQ (2013) and NYSE Euronext (2013) closing bells to mark company milestones and has been recognized with multiple Stevie Awards for Women in Business, including Woman of the Year in Technology (2016).
