Renaud Laplanche is a French-American entrepreneur who co-founded LendingClub in 2006, the first peer-to-peer lending marketplace to register its offerings with the SEC. LendingClub went public in 2014 and became the world's largest P2P platform. After departing in 2016, Laplanche founded Upgrade, a consumer credit platform, which reached a $6.3 billion valuation. Upgrade offers personal loans, credit cards and banking services.
