Ryan Selkis is an American entrepreneur who founded Messari in 2018, building it into one of the crypto industry's leading data, research, and market-intelligence platforms. Born in Albany, New York, he earned a B.S. in Finance from Boston College and later attended MIT's Sloan School of Management before leaving in 2014 to focus on Bitcoin. Before Messari, he worked as an analyst at JPMorgan Chase and an associate at Summit Partners, blogged about crypto under the pseudonym "Two Bit Idiot," and held roles at Digital Currency Group and CoinDesk. He served as Messari's CEO until stepping down in July 2024 after a series of controversial political posts, remaining on afterward as an advisor and co-founder while pursuing other ventures.
