The LSE Directory / Fundamental data

GuruFocus is a web based stock research and data platform built around value investing. Its core product is a set of screening and analysis tools, including the Ben Graham Net-Net screener and the Buffett-Munger screener, layered on top of company fundamentals pages that show historical financial statements, ratios and valuation multiples. Two proprietary metrics anchor the platform: GF Score, a 0 to 100 rating that combines value, growth, profitability, financial strength and momentum factors into a single number, and GF Value, a fair value estimate calculated for more than 60,000 companies. Data is delivered through the website, Excel and Google Sheets add ins, iOS and Android apps, and a REST Data API; per the company's own site, financial data is sourced from third parties including Morningstar, Refinitiv and QuoteMedia and refreshed daily. GuruFocus's specialisation, and its main differentiator from generic screener and fundamentals sites, is tracking the public equity holdings and trades of thousands of well known professional investors, whom it calls "gurus", drawn from 13F filings, alongside corporate insider transactions; the Data API alone indexes more than 17,000 institutional investor portfolios. This guru tracking layer is marketed as an idea generation tool for individual value investors rather than a pure data terminal, and the company positions itself for retail investors, academic users (it states its tools are used by professors and students at more than 100 universities worldwide) and, through the API and spreadsheet add ins, developers and quantitative researchers building their own screens or backtests. It monetises through tiered website subscriptions plus separate API pricing plans, and its site carries a standard disclaimer that it is not a broker dealer and does not provide investment advice. GuruFocus was founded in December 2004 by Dr. Charlie Tian, a physicist with a PhD from Peking University who had worked as a research scientist at Fujitsu Network Communications before leaving that job in 2007 to run the site full time; he wrote up his investing approach in the 2017 Wiley book "Invest Like a Guru". The company is privately held and headquartered in Plano, Texas, with a small team (third party company databases put headcount in the low twenties). In 2021 Tian's separate advisory firm, GuruFocus Investments LLC, registered with the SEC as an investment adviser (CRD number 316414) and became sub adviser to the Guru Favorite Stocks ETF, ticker GFGF, an actively managed fund that began trading on December 16, 2021 with about 40 million dollars in seed capital and holds roughly 25 to 35 US listed stocks selected from the holdings of the tracked gurus. As of early 2026, GFGF's largest holdings included Nvidia, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, Alphabet, MSCI and Berkshire Hathaway, reflecting the fund's continued strategy of buying high quality companies favoured by the guru investors GuruFocus tracks on its research platform.
