Sharadar is a data research firm that extracts, standardises and packages fundamental and reference data from US public company filings into commercial datasets. Its flagship product, Core US Fundamentals (SF1), provides roughly 150 fundamental indicators and financial ratios per company, covering more than 14,000 active and delisted US listed issuers, including foreign issuers such as ADRs and Canadian companies that file with the SEC and trade on US exchanges (BATS, NASDAQ, NYSE and OTC). Companion datasets cover insider holdings and transactions (SF2, history from 2005), institutional ownership (SF3, from 2013), SEC Form 8-K corporate event data (from 1993), historical S&P 500 index constituents (from 1957), and end-of-day pricing for equities and funds (from 1998), with a bundled offering (SFA) sold at a discount across the set. All datasets are distributed exclusively through the Nasdaq Data Link platform (formerly Quandl), accessible via API and through Nasdaq's free client libraries for R, Python, MATLAB and Excel. Sharadar's stated differentiator is coverage depth without survivorship bias: because delisted and bankrupt companies remain in the fundamentals history alongside active ones, the dataset is built for backtesting strategies over multi-decade windows without the upward bias that comes from datasets that only carry currently-listed names. The company positions itself for a wide range of users, from individual retail investors and independent developers up to hedge funds and other institutional research desks, describing its approach on its own site as data "built from the ground up with the assumption of the internet, and internet economics," aimed at making investment-grade data accessible at a lower cost than legacy institutional data vendors. The company name is a portmanteau of "share" and "radar." Sharadar was founded in 2013. Its principal, Vincent Paver, is described on the company's own site as having a background spanning management and analytical roles across finance and technology, a university education in economics and finance, and completion of all three levels of the CFA examination. The firm operates as a data publisher on the Nasdaq Data Link marketplace rather than selling directly to end users through its own storefront; third-party research and trading platforms, including QuantRocket, offer integrations that let users query Sharadar's datasets programmatically after subscribing through Nasdaq Data Link.
