The LSE Directory / Fundamental data

YCharts is a cloud-based investment research, analytics and client-communication platform built for financial professionals. It combines fundamentals, financial statements, ratios, analyst estimates, SEC filings, news and economic-indicator data across stocks, mutual funds, ETFs and separately managed accounts, delivered through a web interface, an Excel add-in and a Market Data REST API. Core workflows include security screening, side-by-side comparison, model portfolio construction, dashboards with real-time alerts and automated proposal generation for client meetings. The platform targets registered investment advisers, independent financial advisers, asset managers and wholesalers, plus sophisticated individual investors, positioning itself as a lower-cost alternative to institutional terminals for advisory-focused research and client reporting rather than trading or execution. Its differentiation rests on integration into the advisor workflow: portfolio data can be extracted directly from client statements, and the platform connects into practice-management and CRM tools including Orion, Redtail, Salesforce and eMoney, so research and analytics feed into proposal and reporting output rather than living as a standalone data terminal. YCharts was founded in 2009 by Shawn Carpenter, who developed the concept while working on Google's revenue intelligence team, and Ara Anjargolian, who became the company's chief technology officer. Carpenter stepped down as CEO in April 2016 and was succeeded by Sean Brown that June. The company is headquartered in Chicago and had raised approximately $14.5 million in venture funding since launch, from investors including Hyde Park Angels, RELX-backed REV Venture Partners and Morningstar, before entering a growth recapitalization with private equity firm LLR Partners in October 2020, at which point YCharts served more than 6,000 users, primarily financial advisors, and generated more than $15 million in annual recurring revenue. Clients named on the company's own site include Carson, Invesco, Northwestern Mutual, LPL Financial, Savant, Dynasty, Cerity Partners and John Hancock. In June 2026, YCharts introduced "Y," an agentic AI assistant built on Anthropic's Claude models that executes workflows directly inside the platform, such as building portfolios, running screens, generating client-ready reports and monitoring market conditions in the background, reflecting a shift in the company's product strategy toward agentic automation for advisor workflows.
