Verition Fund Management LLC is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund. It allocates capital across six trading strategies run by internal portfolio management teams: Credit, Fixed Income and Macro, Convertible and Volatility Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short and Capital Markets Trading, and Quantitative Strategies. The firm is headquartered at 1 American Lane, Greenwich, Connecticut, with additional offices in New York, Norwalk, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai. As a multi-manager platform, Verition allocates risk across a large number of independent trading teams rather than running one concentrated book, a structure it shares with peers such as Millennium and Citadel. Public reporting describes the firm as favoring a higher ratio of portfolio managers to capital than some rivals, spreading exposure across many smaller, less-crowded positions and seeking what it calls distinctive sources of alpha across changing market cycles, rather than large directional bets. The firm was founded in October 2008 by Nicholas Maounis, previously President and Chief Investment Officer of Amaranth Advisors, together with Josh Goldstein, who had been Chief Operating Officer of Maounis's family office, NM Holdings. Verition launched with about 185 million dollars and 19 employees; it now employs approximately 750 people. Maounis serves as Principal and Chief Executive Officer, overseeing investment process, capital allocation, risk management and recruitment; Goldstein serves as Principal, President and Chief Operating Officer. According to public reporting, the fund has not posted an annual loss since inception, with average annual returns cited around 12.9 percent through March 2025 and a 30.4 percent return in 2020, a year that drove a significant increase in investor inflows. In April 2025, Affiliated Managers Group (AMG) acquired a minority stake in Verition, and the firm is listed on AMG's website as one of its affiliated investment managers. As of its own website (mid-2026), Verition states it manages approximately 15.0 billion dollars in assets with more than 500 investment professionals across nine offices worldwide, up from the roughly 12.6 billion dollars and 450 employees reported around the time of the AMG transaction in April 2025, indicating continued growth in scale following that investment.
