The LSE Directory / HFT firms

DV Trading is a Chicago-headquartered proprietary trading firm that acts as both a liquidity provider and liquidity taker across derivatives and securities exchanges worldwide. Its traders, quantitative researchers and developers make markets and trade for the firm's own capital in futures and options on interest rates, commodities and equities, alongside dedicated energy trading (crude oil, refined products, natural gas and power) and fixed income and equities desks run through affiliated broker-dealers. Within proprietary trading and market making, DV differentiates itself through the breadth of affiliated business lines it has built around the core trading desk rather than through a single product focus. DV Securities, LLC and DV Equities, LLC are SEC-registered broker-dealers (DV Securities is also a FICC member) that provide funding and execution capabilities to counterparties; Independent Trading Group, a Toronto brokerage the firm acquired, is CIRO-registered; and Newton Crypto, registered with the Ontario Securities Commission, extends the group into retail crypto. This combination of proprietary risk-taking, broker-dealer infrastructure and acquired trading talent is DV's route to scale, rather than organic headcount growth alone. The firm traces its origins to 2006, when Dino Verbrugge established it in Toronto, with Jared Vegosen opening a Chicago office in 2007 under the backing of futures commission merchant Rosenthal Collins Group. Vegosen and Verbrugge bought full ownership from Rosenthal Collins Group on September 1, 2016, at which point the firm had around 225 employees; today DV Trading and its affiliates report more than 500 traders and staff across eight offices (Chicago, New York, London, Toronto, Dubai, Miami, Houston and the Bahamas). Vegosen serves as CEO and Verbrugge as President. The firm has grown substantially by acquisition, buying Chicago rival Eldorado Trading in 2017 and the business of Allston Holdings (Allston Trading and Allston Capital) in a deal announced December 16, 2021. In 2017 the CFTC fined DV Trading 5 million dollars over illegal wash sales in eurodollar trading during 2013 to 2015 designed to generate exchange rebate fees, with a separate 200,000 dollar penalty against a trader involved. DV Group announced on March 4, 2026 that it had completed a business combination with TradeLink Holdings LLC, a Chicago proprietary trading firm founded in 1979 with a long track record in futures, options and commodities trading; more than 80 TradeLink employees joined DV Trading as part of the deal, with TradeLink founder Walt Weissman citing shared values around research rigor and risk management as the rationale.
