Andrew W. Lo is the Charles E. and Susan T. Harris Professor at MIT Sloan School of Management and director of MIT's Laboratory for Financial Engineering. He developed the Adaptive Markets Hypothesis (2004), an evolutionary alternative to the Efficient Markets Hypothesis, and founded hedge fund AlphaSimplex Group. He is also known for research into hedge fund risk, systemic risk and the role of emotion in financial decision-making.
