David Rosenberg is a Canadian economist and market strategist who founded Rosenberg Research & Associates in Toronto in January 2020, publishing top-down macroeconomic and bond-market research including the daily "Breakfast with Dave" note, which his firm says serves thousands of retail and institutional clients across roughly 40 countries. He previously served as Chief Economist and Strategist at Gluskin Sheff + Associates (2009-2019) and as Chief North American Economist at Merrill Lynch in New York until 2009, where he was repeatedly ranked among Institutional Investor's all-star analysts and gained prominence for early warnings ahead of the 2008 US housing bust. He holds a BA and an MA in Economics from the University of Toronto, is a frequent contrarian voice on recession risk in North American financial media, and is the author of "The Bear in the Bull Ring" (announced for 2026). His personal X account @EconguyRosie shows approximately 306,000 followers per the platform.
