James "Jim" Bianco is an American macro strategist and the founder and president of Bianco Research LLC, a Chicago-based firm providing macro, fixed-income and market-structure analysis to institutional investors; he has produced commentary since 1990 under affiliate Arbor Research & Trading and founded Bianco Research as its affiliate in 1998. A Chartered Market Technician with a finance degree from Marquette University (1984) and an MBA from Fordham University (1989), he previously worked as an equity technical analyst at Shearson Lehman Brothers and First Boston and as a market strategist at UBS Securities. Through Bianco Research Advisors he created the Bianco Research Fixed Income Total Return Index (BTRINDX), which the WisdomTree Bianco Total Return Fund (WTBN, launched December 2023) tracks. He appears regularly on CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business, and his X account @biancoresearch has roughly 550-580K followers according to third-party trackers.
