Alfonso Peccatiello, known online as MacroAlf, is an Italian macro analyst and educator, born in Battipaglia, who founded The Macro Compass, a global macro research and education platform covering bond markets, yield curves, central bank mechanics, and portfolio strategy for retail and institutional investors. Previously Head of Investments at ING Deutschland, where he was appointed at 27 and managed a fixed-income portfolio he describes as roughly $20 billion, he left banking in late 2021 to build The Macro Compass, which he says has grown to over 150,000 newsletter subscribers including institutional clients. He also co-hosts The Macro Trading Floor podcast and sells courses on monetary mechanics and the bond market. In January 2025 he launched Palinuro Capital, an Amsterdam-managed discretionary global macro hedge fund focused on rates and FX, where he serves as Chief Investment Officer; Hedgeweek reported it managed about $50 million as of 2025.
