Ali Casey is a Canadian algorithmic trader and educator, born in Baghdad, Iraq, who holds a BSc in Computer Science and runs StatOasis, an algo-trading education business he presents through his YouTube channel of the same name (about 23.3K subscribers and 387 videos as of July 2026). By his own account he began trading in 1998 during the dot-com bubble, lost over $270K to overfitting and excessive leverage before a 2014 shift to simple, statistically validated systems, later managed a family investment fund and says he leased strategies to a hedge fund partnership. Since 2022 he has focused on education: an Algo Trading Masterclass built around the StrategyQuant X workflow (generating and stress-testing thousands of strategy variations for forex, stocks, futures, crypto and ETFs), the AlgoTrader newsletter (which StatOasis says has 4,500+ subscribers), and the StatOasis community, with tooling support for TradeStation, MultiCharts and StrategyQuant. His teaching emphasizes portfolios of many uncorrelated simple strategies, robustness testing, and statistical risk management over discretionary trading.
