Brent Kochuba is the founder of SpotGamma, an options-analytics research firm he launched in early 2020 to bring institutional-style options positioning data to retail traders. Kochuba is widely credited with popularizing the term "gamma exposure" (GEX) as a retail trading concept, building models that estimate the aggregate net gamma held by options market makers across strikes and expirations, and using that to infer how much dealers must buy or sell the underlying to stay hedged. Before founding SpotGamma he spent close to two decades on the derivatives side of the business, working as an options and derivatives trader at Bank of America and Credit Suisse, as a derivatives broker at Wolverine Execution, and later as a portfolio manager running options-based strategies at Seven North Capital Management. He teaches GEX and dealer-positioning concepts through SpotGamma's research notes, a paid Academy/course offering, a regular YouTube "OPEX Live" series, and frequent podcast and financial-media appearances, and SpotGamma's methodology has reportedly been referenced by institutional desks and platforms such as Bloomberg (per the company's own claims).
