Chris Butler is an American options-trading educator and the founder of projectoption, an education platform and YouTube channel he launched in 2016 (rebranded projectfinance in 2021, later returned to the projectoption name). After earning a bachelor's degree in finance from DePaul University in Chicago, he worked at tastytrade creating educational content for self-directed investors before striking out on his own; by his own account he has spent 13 years in finance, all focused on options trading. His channel, known for highly visual explanations of options greeks, strategies and volatility products, counts roughly 483,000 subscribers and 34 million views, and his flagship "Options Trading for Beginners" video has drawn nearly 18 million views per his site. He sells the paid "Data-Driven Options Strategies" course (Options Strategy Data Lab) via Teachable and offers free options calculators and modeling tools on projectoption.com, which also carries a disclosed tastytrade marketing-affiliate relationship.
