Brent Donnelly is a Canadian currency trader, author, and President of Spectra Markets, the financial media firm behind his daily global macro newsletter am/FX and the free weekly Friday Speedrun. Trading professionally since 1995, he has been a senior FX trader at HSBC, head of G10 spot FX trading at Citi New York, and managing director and head of FX trading at Nomura New York, with earlier stints including Lehman Brothers and a portfolio manager role at a Connecticut hedge fund. He is the author of The Art of Currency Trading (Wiley, 2019), Alpha Trader (2021), and the annual Spectra Markets Trader Handbook and Almanac (with Justin Ross), and has co-hosted The Macro Trading Floor podcast with Alfonso Peccatiello. His commentary has been quoted or featured in the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Bloomberg, CNBC, and The Economist.
