Gary Stevenson (born 1986, Ilford, London) is a British former Citibank interest-rate trader who now runs the YouTube channel Gary's Economics, launched in 2020, where he explains macroeconomics, interest rates, and wealth inequality and campaigns for a wealth tax. He claims to have been Citibank's most profitable trader in the world in 2011, a claim disputed by eight former colleagues in a 2024 Financial Times article. He studied economics and mathematics at the London School of Economics and later completed an MPhil in economics at Keble College, Oxford, and is the author of the 2024 memoir The Trading Game (Penguin). His channel had roughly 1.6 million subscribers as of mid-2026, and in 2025 he received the Human Act Award and an honorary doctorate from SOAS University of London.
