Harrison Kinsley, known online as sentdex, is an American programmer and educator who has run the sentdex YouTube channel (about 1.54 million subscribers as of July 2026) since December 2012 and operates PythonProgramming.net, a free tutorial site covering Python from basics to machine learning, finance, NLP, and robotics. His long-running Python for Finance and algorithmic trading series (Quantopian/Zipline backtesting, live market data, ML-driven strategies) became a standard on-ramp into quant trading for self-taught coders, and his handle derives from sentdex.com, a stock sentiment-analysis project (sentiment + index) he built while learning Python via NLTK. He has no formal CS education, having double-majored in Philosophy and Criminal Justice, and co-authored the book Neural Networks from Scratch in Python (nnfs.io) with Daniel Kukiela. He currently serves as Director of AI & Engineering at robotics-simulation company Lucky Robots and, per his personal site, lives in rural Alabama.
