Jonathon Emerick is an Australian energy trader and quantitative analyst who created QuantPy, a YouTube channel dedicated to learning quantitative finance by implementing it in Python, covering options pricing, Monte Carlo methods, portfolio optimization, and backtesting. He holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and a Master of Financial Mathematics, started the channel as an online tutoring outlet while completing his master's, and has worked in Australia's National Electricity Market, including at renewables operator Overwatch Energy, after early mentorship from ERM Power and CleanCo traders. As of July 2026 the channel showed about 95,600 subscribers, 92 videos, and 3.4 million total views, and in February 2026 it was acquired by options-data provider ThetaData, which said it bought QuantPy to preserve it as a resource for the quant finance community. He also published code via GitHub (TheQuantPy) and ran a Patreon offering Jupyter notebooks and a Discord community for supporters.
