The LSE Directory / Trading software
StrategyQuant X is a Windows desktop application, developed by StrategyQuant s.r.o. of Prague, Czech Republic, that automates the design of rule-based trading strategies. Rather than requiring a trader to code entry and exit logic by hand, the software uses genetic programming and machine learning to evolve strategies from a configurable library of technical indicators, then runs each candidate through in-sample and out-of-sample backtests before presenting it to the user. The platform targets traders who want a systematic, do-it-yourself alternative to buying pre-built expert advisors or signal services. Its core differentiator is an extensive validation pipeline: multiple Monte Carlo simulation types, walk-forward optimisation, permutation tests, symmetry tests and sensitivity analysis, intended to filter out strategies that are merely curve-fit to historical data. Finished strategies are exported as native code (MQL4/MQL5, EasyLanguage and similar) for live or paper trading on MetaTrader 4/5, NinjaTrader, TradeStation, MultiCharts, cTrader and JForex, so the tool functions as a strategy factory feeding a trader's existing execution platform rather than a platform in its own right. Its customer base spans individual retail traders through to small money managers and boutique funds building diversified, non-correlated portfolios of systematic strategies across forex, futures, equities and crypto markets. The company was founded in 2010 in Prague and is led by CEO Maros Fric, who is also credited in company material as the software's chief architect, sometimes under the anglicised form Mark Fric. As of mid-2026 it remains a small, self-funded operation; LinkedIn and Tracxn both list it at roughly a dozen employees, and no venture capital rounds are on record for the company. Licenses are sold as tiered one-time purchases (entry and professional grades, each including a fixed window of support and updates) rather than as a recurring SaaS subscription, a business-model choice that sets it apart from some newer, cloud-hosted strategy builders in the same category.
