The LSE Directory / Trading software
Wealth-Lab is a Windows desktop and web-connected platform for building, backtesting, and automating trading strategies across stocks, options, futures, forex, and cryptocurrencies. Strategies are written in WealthScript, a C#-based scripting dialect, or assembled without code using the platform's visual Strategy Building Blocks; both paths run through the same portfolio-level backtesting engine, which processes market data bar by bar and can hand off validated strategies to live, automated execution through a connected brokerage account. The platform is aimed at individual systematic and semi-professional traders rather than institutions, and its core technical differentiator within that segment is portfolio-level, not single-symbol, testing: index datasets that reconstruct historical constituent changes for benchmarks such as the Nasdaq 100, Dow 30, and S&P 500, survivor-bias elimination, walk-forward optimization, and Monte Carlo simulation. It offers live data and order-execution connections to a defined set of brokers and vendors, including Tradier and Binance, and its no-code Building Blocks are pitched at traders who want that portfolio-testing rigor without writing C#. Wealth-Lab was created by Dion Kurczek, Brett Corrigan, and Aristotle Varner and launched in 2000. Fidelity Investments acquired the software in 2004 and distributed it to its brokerage clients at no extra cost as Wealth-Lab Pro, alongside a separately sold Wealth-Lab Developer edition for non-Fidelity users. Fidelity discontinued the Pro offering in 2020 and retains the older WL6 codebase; the original development team rewrote the platform from scratch and relaunched it independently as Wealth-Lab 7 in March 2021. The current owner, Quantacula, LLC, based in Sarasota, Florida, operates the product, now on version 8. Wealth-Lab is sold today as a standalone subscription rather than as a Fidelity-linked account benefit: a Basic annual tier, a Premium annual tier that adds roughly two dozen extensions, and a monthly option. The company markets it to traders in more than 50 countries, with data support extending beyond US markets to exchanges including the LSE, TSX, and ASX.
